Part II - Darts for Beginners - Throwing Skills
"Some say that the ideal throwing stance is horizontal upper arm, vertical forearm with no shoulder movement" |
Quick steps to begin practicing your dart throwing skills:
- Set up the Dart board with the bulls eye 5 feet 8 inches from the floor
- Stand with your toe on a line (good to use masking tape - or an official throw line) 7 feet 9 1/4 inches from the face of the board
- Hold your dart (typically you play with a set of 3 darts, either steel tip darts or soft tip) with tip facing the dart board, at about cheek level
- Aim for the bullseye on the board, and throw straight, so that the dart lands anywhere on the board. In more popular games like "301" played around the world, if the dart stays on the board for at least 5 seconds, you can score the points earned.
*Hint: Some say that the ideal throwing stance is horizontal upper arm, vertical forearm with no shoulder movement. While this may not quite be comfortable for most folks, it's good to find a happy medium.
